Overview This 5 day intensive training covers the nature of trauma, the consequences of traumatic incidents, and the Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR) technique. TIR has been determined to be an evidence-based technique by SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration), a branch of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
The TIR workshop teaches how past traumas are triggered and how unwanted feelings, emotions, sensations, attitudes, and pains (“themes”) resulting from past trauma can be traced back to their origins and eliminated.
You will also learn Unblocking, a technique that is highly useful in preparing a client for TIR and for handling issues that are not directly trauma-related. Unblocking can be applied to broad areas of life (e.g. your marriage, your job, your family, etc.)
The first 4.5 days will focus on the core, essential TIR training and implementation of techniques, including real hands-on practice (not role play). The final afternoon will consolidate new learning by exploring how TIR fits into the broader, current understanding in the field of trauma, as well as recommendations on how to confidently run your practice using TIR and how to weave it into your toolbox of modalities.
Where: Training will take place live online via my Zoom Healthcare account which adheres to the privacy policies in Canada, both PHIPA and PIPEDA. On-site, in-person training available for organizations in Windsor, ON that have a facility with a training room and break out rooms.
Who: This workshop is appropriate for all levels of practicing social workers, psychologists, psychotherapists, counsellors, clergy, and critical incident stress debriefers. Prerequisites: None.
